Hi, my name is Caroline Wagstaff and in 2018 I celebrate 15 years of selling my award-winning inventions, the BackBliss Lotion & Cream Applicators and Back Scratchers. It is amazing to think this all began with an idea on a beach in 1998 and the product being launched in 2003.
In 2003 I won a Global Women's Innovators and Inventors Network award (GWIIN) and was a finalist in the British Female Inventor of the Year (BFIY) competition. The Daily Express carried a double page spread about me and I appeared on TV with Melinda Messenger and Richard Arnold talking about BackBliss and the product was shown and demonstrated on London Tonight.
In 2005 I took part in the second series of the BBC2 show Dragons' Den but didn't secure any funding when I appeared on the show. The Dragons' liked my product but didn't think they could make enough money for themselves by backing me.
Undaunted by this, I then started a greetings card business in 2009 (Wags of Windsor) illustrating jewels, crown, tiaras, soldiers and many things particular to my hometown of Windsor. I am lucky enough to supply some of the UK's most prestigious Royal attractions and I was commissioned to create a very special picture in 2012 for a well-known public school near Windsor, which was then presented to Her Majesty the Queen to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee. I have also created bespoke cards for Historic Scotland, The Sandringham Estate and Eton College.
In between all this, I have also found the time to write a lovely little book about my hometown of Windsor entitled WINDSOR - Fun, Facts, History & Legend. 10000 editions of the book were sold throughout the town, including Windsor Castle and the Royal Farm Shop but are now unfortunately out of print.
In 2011 in collaboration with Wares of Knutsford I created a large range of jar and bottle labels assembled from my Mum Rosemary Wagstaff's paintings of flowers, fruit, vegetables, garden utensils and creatures. The labels are sold by Wares of Knutsford, the Royal Horticultural Society and Women's Institute's Denman College in Oxfordshire amongst others.
I run BackBliss and Wags of Windsor myself with occasional help. If you want to contact me for any reason, please do.
